Music from the very beginning
Music starts long before reading a score or playing an instrument.
For young children, musical learning begins through movement, voice, listening, imitation and play.
These early childhood music sessions offer a rich musical environment in which children can listen, move, sing, respond and explore sound at their own pace.
Gordon Music Learning Theory
Gordon Music Learning Theory focuses on how children learn music naturally, before theory or notation.
At its centre is audiation: the ability to hear and understand music internally.
In class, children experience this through songs without words, rhythm patterns, movement and musical responses adapted to their age.
What happens in a session?
A musical early childhood session is not a miniature instrument lesson.
Children sing, listen, move, imitate, respond and participate at their own pace through songs, rhythm patterns, movement and simple musical games.
The aim is to build solid musical foundations: beat, voice, listening, coordination and musical confidence.
Practical information
• Location: SEV52 – entrance via Rue de Sébeillon 9¾, 1004 Lausanne
• 0–3 years: accompanied by a parent
• 3–6 years: children attend without a parent, to gradually encourage their independence
• Duration: 30–45 minutes, depending on the children’s age
• Group size: generally 4–10 families
• Trial session: CHF 25
• Enrollment: per semester, calculated according to the number of remaining sessions
